follow-up CT scan for lung nodule

My husband goes back for a follow-up CT scan next week 9 mos after a 8mm groundglass nodule was found in his upper right lung. The 3 mos scan in May found it had not changed. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience as to how likely it is that the nodule will grow after another 6 mos.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Changes in the size of a lung nodule will depend on the cause. If it is due to an old healed lesion, it is unlikely to change in size. If it is due to an active infection/inflammation or a tumor, it could increase in size over time. The progression then will depend on the severity of the disease.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
