gasping for air

by bobbi400, Aug 10, 2008 09:17AM
Last night I woke up and went to the bathroom @ 3:30 AM, I laid back down and went right back to sleep, I woke up at 3:40 AM gasping for air as if my throat were constricted, and I was struggling to take air into my lungs, then I would cough, exhaling all of the air I had struggled to take in, it was VERY scary. I have never experienced anything like this before. Can you tell me, is this common? Does this happen to people all the time? I"ve read about sleep apnea, but it was the struggle to breathe that was so frightening, is that part of the sleep apnea? Thank You, Bobbi
