head, back,neck pain?

my boyfriend has servere pain in his head, back, neck. they can not seem to find out what the problem is. They frist said it was diabetic neuropathy but nothing is helping his pain. I just want to know if it is serious? He is on loratab for pain but it is not working, he needs something stronger, can you tell if there is a medication that would help? Thank you, susan

There are many causes of such pain that can involve nerves, blood vessels and/or muscles.  It can be a symptom of inflammation, infection or tumor.  It is not possible to make a judgment about the seriousness of this pain until a diagnosis is made and response to therapy witnessed.  Lortab
