my daughter is 17 years old ....had sinus surgery last march 2007 and december 2007....she is still have problems her nose is stuffed up and has the cough..can't lay down without coughing....i don't know what to do with her ...i think the doctors think i'm crazy...i don't want her to have to spend the rest of her life like this......my doctor said it could be an autoimmune disease...he won't see her til she is 18...what do you think...where do i go..thanks lisa

Hi - I know what you are going thru - my son is 22 and has had sinus problems for 3 years and also has had 3 surgeries - not fun! My son has allergies but they were never that bad. He got mono 2 months before alll his problems began. First, I would find another doctor. Be proactive ! We recently went to Rush University Hospital in Chicago - maybe there is a teaching hospital near you. The alllergy/immunology dept. there recommended testing him for antibodies even though his IGg levels were within normal range. He tested low in 3 areas and just had 3 immunizations - Hib, pneumovax and TD. Then his blood will be retested to see if his body responded to the shots by making antibodies. At least this is a place you can start. Let me know what you find out. I can keep you posted as well. I feel like I am a medical detective! But I have to advocate for my son. Good LUck!
