hiatal hernia/gerd

I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia/gerd several yrs back and was put on aciphex. It worked for about a year and in this yr I have gained some weight. Now it seems the aciphex isn't working anymore. Any ideas to help for now until I can lose the weight that I need to????
