high eosinophil

by Ktgb05, Oct 03, 2008 08:23PM
I have been having high blood pressure resecently and had a kidney disease when I was younger but was in remission...had blood test to check my kidneys and everything came out normal...my wbc and rbc were normal but my eosinophil was 15.9% though...and I have been having a bad cough when I eat, and recently discovered a lump in my throat that the doc's thought was thyroid but thyroid came out ok...does anyone know what the cause of high eosinophil in this case could be?

High eosinophils could mean an allergic process which might explain your cough (maybe asthma?). Do you have any other symptoms of allergies such as runny nose, itching etc?
Other reasons for a high eosinophil count could be a parasitic infection, eczema, some autoimmune diseases and even leukemia. Usually they signify an allergic process though...
Hope this helps, Sunny
