high heart rate after surgury

by drakechaz, Apr 16, 2008 09:44PM
I am a 38 year old male, controled blood pressure with medication, 185lbs, 5ft 5 inchs.  Overall good health.

Just about 6 months ago I had a tonsillectomy and uppp.  Prior to the procedure my heart rate was 85 and my O2 sat was near 100.  When I got out of the procedure my heart rate was at 140 and I was on O2 that barely kept me at a 92 O2.  A heart doctor came in to see me and asked me to follow up with him after I recovered.

I followed up with the heart doctor and he said my heart is fine if it just was not beating at above 100 even when I rest.  He wants me to follow up in 6 months.

I went back to the ent doctor and explained to him how uncomfortable this was to me and that I had lost some memory as well.  He sent me to a neurologist who said my brain is fine and that my memory loose should go away – for the most part it has.

Finally after getting tired of a run around I went to a new doctor and explained to her everything above.  She took a x-ray and said I had pneumonia and after 10 days on RX I felt better but wanted to find out about my heart rate.  She sent me to a cat scan and then straight to oncology.  I had biopsies done of some lymph nodes on the outside of my throat and all werel negative for cancer.  Now I am told it may be sarcoidosis.  Next I go to a lung doctor.

What’s funny is that the night before my biopsies the anistiolgist called to get a history and answer any concerns.  I explained the above to him – he stated that he had just read a couple of interesting case studies that mirrored what I was saying.  He stated the case studies stated that during the tonsillectomy and uppp inadequate steroids were giving and excess swelling occurred and when the tube was pulled the patients they aspirated things into their lungs that should not have gone.  Couple that along with not being able to cough for days made for the same issues I was suffering from.  He promised to give me plenty of steroids prior, during and after the procdue.  The day of the surgery that’s the first thing he did –

I have not been able to get ahold of him since my last procedure to find out more about the case studies he read.  My heart rate is still above 100 at night when I sleep.  I fell fatigued all the time.

Can someone please tell me what to do and how to explain it and what happened.
Maybe the answer is not what the anistioligist told me – I am scared.  My appointment is in two weeks with the lung specialist.  HELP me please!!!
