hilar adenopathy

My son is a 27 year old white male.If the doctor suspects sacoidosis from a chest x-ray and cat scan because of hilar adenopathy is it necessary to start predisone or will the lymph nodes go down eventually? Also what is the range for a normal pulmonary function test? Thank you very much.

The lymph nodes will eventually return to their normal size as long as two conditions are present.  The first condition is that the enlargement is due to sarcoidosis.  The second condition is that there is no evidence of involvement of any other organs.

Normal pulmonary function values vary greatly from one person to the next.  They are based on age, gender, height, and race.  The normal range is generally provided with your results.
