involuntary breaths

by Grame, Oct 01, 2008 01:54PM
I have this thing that happens to me periodically.  When I least expect it, my body takes a deep breath.  Sometimes it is not as deep as others.  It interupts my normal breathing pattern.  There is no time that it happens more than others.  It will sometimes happen when I am eating and then I choke.  This started many years ago.  It seems to come and go.  Lately it is happening more frequently.  I am in reasonably good health.  I had my thyroid removed about 30 years ago, and had a hystorectomy 3 years ago.  When it happens it seems to normal breathing pattern.  It doesn't make me feel badly, just nervous that something is wrong.
