left lwer lobe infiltrate

by flourchild47, Apr 21, 2009 01:01PM
My father, who suffers from CHF and COPD, with a history of blood clots to the lungs, complained of severe shortness of breath to his nursing home staff early in the morning.  A chest xray done after lunch showed a LLQ infiltrate, which the nurse explained could be caused by a cold, as could his pulse oximetry of 92.
I'm a tad skeptical, as I've worked in an E.R. as an EMT/tech in the past and seem to recall that a pulse ox of 91 and an infiltrate was the criteria for admission to r/o pneumonia.
What's you take?
