loosing my mind with severe head pressure

by Max260, Nov 05, 2009 08:30PM
Over a year ago I was told by my doctor that I had acute and chronic sinusitis.  This was after two CT scans.  the doctor had me on antibiotics for a while along with some nasal sprays.  Tried it all but eventually the doctor told me  I  would need to do the surgery to get some relief.  However its a few months later and I lost my job and have no insurance or money to have the surgery.  So can someone PLEASE tell me if there is something I can try to get some relief.  This problem is causing all sorts of problem in my life.  It is so bad i can't focus at all.  I can hardly hold a conversation without forgetting what  I want to say.  Please help.

I can fully relate, but thankfully here in Canada we never have to worry about insurance. What you can do is try to irrigate your sinuses with salt water (1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp baking soda in 1 cup of warm water). You can either snort it up your nose from a cup till the salt water drips into your throat. Or you can get a large 60ml syringe preferably and use that to get the water up into your sinuses. Flush them out multiple times, till you see green stuff come out. Do this 2-3 times per day. It's gross, but works well to reduce the infection and make you more comfortable. At night take some decongestant ( I like to use night time Tylenol Sinus) and that will help to reduce the pressure, when you wake up you're more functional then you otherwise would be.

I had a deviated septum that created all sorts of problems with my sinuses, and also had chronic infection mixed with acute on top. Very miserable. I've had a few surgeries, but now my sinuses are much improved and I feel light years better. Ultimately you should get the surgery, as chronic infections are exceedingly difficult to get rid of, as the bacteria invade all the surrounding tissue in your sinuses, which are not well supplied with blood vessels. Hence why antibiotics don't work terribly well on infections in the first place.

I hope this helps.
