lung capacity vs blood clots

I spent last Thanksgiving in ICU for 5 days with extensive blood clots in my lungs. They were described as if I had been shot with buckshot. The source is an arithmia I have had for years and excessive weight (+330). I have lost about 40 lbs to date and am continuiing to do so however I continue to experience diminished lung capacity.
The doctor has me on blood thinners with monthly lab checks but has not indicated a need for a followup lung scan.
Should I be rescanned and how long will these clots continue to effect my capacity?
Is it safe to exercise on a stationary bike? If so, for how long each day?
