lung heaviness, etc from 2002 blog

by Ejk1110, Mar 21, 2008 09:35PM
I just read the blog from 2002 where several people were describing a set of symptoms including chest heaviness, an inability to get a deep breath, feeling as though you need to lift your breasts, coughing up mucous ocassionally, a pain or burning in the back. The folks mentioned the symptoms crept up and worsened over a number of months, sometimes having started after a bout with bronchitis or the flu.  I am experiencing all of this also, plus deep distinct wheezing when I laugh. A lung xray 9 mos ago was normal. I have looked into asthma, have taken several rounds of antibiotics over the last year since this started, and feel as though it is gradually worsening - it started lower in my chest and is now up high just below my throat, as though someone is sitting on my chest. And my throat feels some pressure too. I am wondering if anyone who had this in 2002 ever found out what it was, if they got over it or got relief. I have had allergy tests and am allergic to the usual stuff. Could that cause these symptoms?

I also read the 2002 blog and then saw the link to this.  I too have been having near identical symptoms.  It is going on a year now.  I wonder if it worsens for you as the day goes on too?  Its constant but seems to be much worse at night for me.  It has progressed each month.  I have an incredible pain in my back below my right shoulder blade, and the heaviness and everything are underneath my breast bone, and radiates into my ribs and underneath my armpit.  Recently I have noticed the wheezing in my throat along with pins and needles sensations in my back, neck, shoulders and head.  I've had numerous tests done, tons of chest x-rays a few ct-scans, blood work, ekg and everything comes back fine.  I have an appointment this friday.  If you have heard or hear anything keep in touch, and I will likewise.

Hi,

I read your post and the ones from 2002. I have the exact same symptoms with the heaviness in the chest, can't get a deep breath, lump in throat area, etc. Although mine only started a week ago, my doctor seems to think it's just stress, but I am already on anxiety meds that have worked just fine and have never experienced these symptoms before when I am stressed. It's kind of scary that no one seems to know what this is and reading everyones posts makes me scared that this will last a long time. Mine started very randomly (I wasnt sick or anything). My right leg all of a sudden was slightly numb and tingled when you went to touch it one night. The tingly feeling spread the the whole right side of my body and went away a day later. Then this stuff started. Please let me know if anyone has an answer to this mystery!

I've read a previous post about this issue. I'm getting the exact same symptoms as everyone else. It's been getting worse and worse for the last 8 months. I went to many different doctors (specialists) and they all suspected asthma (but I never got any asthma attacks). I had many different inhalers subscribed, taking them didn't help much. I had x-ray done, blood pressure taken, other respiratory tests, everything was fine. Additionally my nose seems to be very dry and stuffed a lot. I don't know what to do anymore

Somebody help!

I have most of the symptoms as all of you have listed. Mine is worst at night, it feels like somethings in my chest, especially if I try to sleep on my stomach (which is how I've always slept). I first noticed these symptoms about 6 weeks ago. The coughing is beginning to start during the day now.

Has anyone had any luck at a diagnosis?
