lung nodule found

my mom went to the emergency room 2 days ago because she has severe chest pains and thought she was having a heart attack, but all her heart enezymes came back perfect and so did the ekg and they also took a chest x-ray. the doctor on call told her it was pleurisy and sent us home with some anti-inflamortory medicine and she is still hurting really bad. today the radiologist called and said she needed to see her doctor as soon as possible because they found a nodule on her lung. what does this mean, does she have cancer? she has never smoked but she lived with my stepfather who smoked 2 packs a day and was exposed to all that second hand smoke for 20 years, she is only 56 and about 70lbs over weight. she also has bad allergies and asthma. could this be cancer? i am so scared, is that why shes hurting so bad, im so scared i cant lose her. please help me.

I am 25 and have two nodules. Normally they keep an eye on them and make sure they don't change. Have her see a pulmonologist. Did he say the size of the nodule. Usually under10mm it will stay benign.
