lung nodules

I have been diagnosed with pneumonia in the left lung.  When they took a chest x-ray they found a nodule in my right lung.  Could this be from the pneumonia?  I am very nervous because I have know idea what this is.  My doctor said he doesn't believe it is anything maybe calcium but I am still nervous.  Could you please tell me anything you know about this?  Thank you!  Sunnyray

Solitary nodules are common.  In most cases these nodules are incidental findings, on chest x-ray taken for another reason, and are mostly benign, especially in young, non-smokers.  The nodule is probably unrelated to the pneumonia in your left lung.  If it is calcified, that is good news, because calcified nodules are, with rare exceptions, benign.  The nodule could be a scar probably left over from a previous infection.  The most important thing now, is for your doctors to check with repeat x-rays to confirm complete clearing of the pneumonia.  Failure to demonstrate complete clearing will leave the cause in doubt and may allow for a flare-up of the pneumonia.
