lung spot

i have a nine month old son who has always had a rattly chest from birth, i asked to have his chest xrayed as my younger brother suffered badly with asthma as a child, the results have come back and they show a spot on his lung near his heart, my doctor told me not to worry as it is probably nothing and is making an appointment for a specialist, but as a mum i am worried and wonder what this could possibly indicate,

Your son's doctor is almost certainly right in telling you not to worry.  A small spot could be almost anything, especially a slight infection or mucus plugging, but at his age it is very unlikely to be anything serious.
