lung transplantation

I was told that patients with SPH/ILD who also have esophageal dysmotility and other related problems due to connective tissue diseases, are not candidates for lung transplants.

Why would the esophagus affect a lung transplant and therefore prevent someone from receiving a transplant?

Thank you.

National Jewish Medical and Research Center treats lung problems medically.  There are no surgical facilities here.  So lung transplants are not done at National Jewish.  Please check with the program coordinator at a major lung transplant center.  This would be the best resource for the answer to your question about your esophageal problems and your connective tissue disease keeping you from receiving a lung transplant.
