If it were me, I would have the biopsy. Maybe in my situation I would be over-reacting, but in my husbands case the wait and see attitude was the wrong choice. PLEASE don't think I'm sayin you have lung cancer. I'm just trying to let you know what all the options can be.

I am 73 and stopped smoking 23 years ago. I was told 2 weeks ago that there are several spots on my lungs but not to worry, probable scar tissue from when I smoked...the doc said he'll just do another mri in 3 months and see...he said right now the only way to find out what the spots are would be to do a biopsy which would mean surgery and he wouldn't want to put me through that!  Maybe I should insist on a biopsy now huh? LLWB, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

You don't say if you are a smoker, or how old you are. My 66 year old husband had a CT scan for coughing up blood, and had an MRI. He was told it was from a past infection, to repeat in 3 mos. He did, he was again told not growing and nothing to worry about....To make a long story short, 6 mos later, after an MRI less than a month before, he all of a sudden had lung cancer, lymph node cancer, 2 brain tumors, and bone cancer. Gee, it metastasized in under a month to all of those places? I don't think so. He died in 12 weeks. Please be aggressive in treating this spot. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck
