Hi there,
Yea I've kinda experienced some of your problems. I thought I was having heart problems for like two years...sometimes I still think I have them. I had pretty much all the heart tests...well everything external. I'm now 23, and have pressure on my chest a lot of the time, mostly just anxiety I guess....
just to let you knwo I did think I had asthma and all those problems because of my breathing. I'm pretty sure that although it happens, its really rare for people our age to just develop heart problems...hope this kind of helps.
also the reason my hear raced was because i smoked a little weed and i had a panic atack that was the staring of all this
i did go to a cardiologist when all this happend about 8 months ago and he is from mass general childrens hospital there the best around my area and some of the best in the world he told me i am saying nothing that is of any concern and when he did all the tests he said i have a normal heart and go do what i want to do i have also had a neck injury(several times) that my father who is a chiropractor says the dizzyness and the headaches are are that of some one that hase an injury like mine my doctor agrees and said the tightness in my chest is probly do to acid idegestion so dont worry he said it has also been not happing for the past 3 days to say it could ne pulmonary hypertension is a little far fetched dont you think i also have a anxiety/depression problem
Your concern about the palpitations and other symptoms you have experienced is warranted. This is unlikely to be a lung problem. Angina is ordinarily a problem for those middle-aged and above. However, people of any age can have heart problems. It is extremely important that you find out if you do or don't have a heart problem. The normal tests you have described are reassuring. However, you could have a problem with the blood vessels or nerve conduction in your heart. Another possibility is that you could have high blood pressure within the blood vessels of the lung, also called pulmonary hypertension. Generally this shows up on the echocardiogram.
The best advice we can give is for you to be seen by a cardiologist who is very experienced in heart problems in young people. Such specialists would usually be found at your local children's hospital or university medical center. Until your condition is diagnosed and treated, we recommend that you stop all heavy exercise, including weight lifting.
You have some concerns I can tell and all for good reason. Your questions may be better suited for the cardiology forum on this website which is hosted by physicians from the Cleveland Clinic, a major center for cardiac disease treatment. If you have some of your test results and wish to post them for the doctor in that forum, they are very good about answering the questions they can. Take care...

yea i had thyroid checked and echo done i do have alot of symptoms of anxiety i just hope the tightness is not angina it would be better to be asthma
you may want to have your blood pressure checked with a stress test....sometimes it may increase immensely with activity and may precipitate increase heart rate and arrythmias
from andrewb i've also got the tightness in my chest a few times when lifting and got it moving furniture once and had a little trouble breathing only a little not much
