mild linear scarring or atelectasis of the lingula
Hello. Thanks for taking my question. I had a chest xray last week after seeing my doctor regarding a chronic productive (lot of mucus for the most part clear, but sometimes thick and tinged with yellow) cough (for 3 months) and rattling sounds from the lung/throat when breathing (especially at night when lying in bed). After listening to my breathing, the doc was concerned I might have pneumonia. I have always had allergies (but never treated). The doc ordered an antibiotic, a nasal steriod for sinus congestion and nasal polyps as well as an inhaler. The results of the chest xray were for the most part normal except for mild linear scarring or atelectasis of the lingula. Can you please tell me what this really means and if I should be concerned? Thanks again!!
