mrsa or methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureoues

my mother-in-law had a massive heart attack 8 months ago since then she has been in a coma. in the past 8 months she has got pnemonia (pneumonia) several times. The second time we were told she had merca or methicillin resistant staphyloccus aureous. we were told that this can either be active or colonized and that there is only 1 antibotic (antibiotic) that can treat this sucessfully. and that   after a couple times it wouldn't work any longer. is this true? what do we do after this happens? where do we turn then? can my healthy 2 year old be effected by this? if so how? we are told that this maybe active now? again? what precautions should i take with my son? and what about the 6 year old that lives at my mother-in-laws house should i let them play togeather while this is active? how can i protect her considering she lives there? we have decided not to take her back to the hospital any more due to the service we receive locally and we really can't afford to transport her or travel to see her. it's been a long 8 month road. is there any info you can give me concerning merca either in the active or colonized stage? thanks so much kymmi
