pain in collar bone and top rib area when touched

I have been diagnose with costiocondrisitus?   I have had it for many years, now as well as in my sternum  it appears to be in my collar bone/top rib area.  As I am an asthmatic  I cannot take anti inflams  but have gell to rub on.  Anyone know of anything else that might help?  Also I have acid reflux and am not sure if the pain I get in my throat and neck are related to that or not. Anyone else have a weird strange feeling in their neck/throat  as well as the classic acid and gurgling  throat clearing and pain in chest?  I am due to have an endoscopy next month, needless to say I am very frightened as I have a fear of choking.

hi, i was recently dx with costochronditis as well... my sx include chest / ribs pain mainly lft side occasionally rt.... upper back pain...throat and or neck pain as well... i have also developed a secondary dx with this dx bi-jiminey and tri-jiminey pvc's of the heart.and reflux... i am on 800mg ibprofin to take edge off pain, nexium for my now acid reflux, topral 50 for my now pvcs and have taken vicodine as well to which does not help the pain other then to help make it a little more barable.... i have been asking everyone if all my sx are related to one dx because from what i have read and heard no. i am still working on it. if i hear anything i will let you know.....my question to you is does this come and go for you?? have you lost sleep?? i work for a gi and the endoscopy is a simple procedure - i have a fear of choking as well they should give you a muscle relaxer and sleep drought to basically put you 2 sheets to the wind (lol) they will tap you every now agian to have you swallow so the tube goes the right way but to you it will be like a dream and you will wonder if you imagined certain things.  good luck! please keep me posted i am very curious you are the first that sounds as if you have all the same sx as me well most of em thx much later days

Hi there   yes it sounds like we got similar problems.  The rib pain does come and go   but is with me more than not.  When I recently went to the doctors, again!, when he pressed on my collar bone area , the pain was  really bad  and also down my breast bone. More pain killers, more gell  hot and cold compresses  oh yes  and rest lol.   I have had this for about three years or more  and it affects my sleep  including the way i can lay.  I find laying on my side almost impossible.  All my pain is left sided  as well   although the collar bone area is both sides   although still prodomantly on the left.  Thanks for the reassurance on the endoscopy,  still scared stupid though.  Strange we should have the fear of choking, Ive had that for a long while   and it takes me hours to eat my dinner as I think Im going to choke every time I swallow the food.  Think its anxiety  so the doctor reckons.  who knows  I know it affects my daily life.  Be in touch.

how are you feeling? i am having good days and bad. sometimes nothing then other timed i can really feel it then i get anxiety and then i can not sleep .... hmmm it ***** basicaly.i laid on my back the other day and felt this uncomfortable pain in the sides of my neck but did not hurt to swallow. i noticed it before however it seemed to go away or maybe i got used to it. i had a md respond basically a md will pick a place then move on ooooo i so do not agree with that strategy! fix me damnit. ok well thanks for the listen - keep me posted on how things work for you.

sorry it has been a while i am no better well i am better in i do not get it as oftern until this last week that is  and it seems so much worse. i feel pain in my throat when i move jus right then i get the chest pain then the back or shoulder pain then i feel my heart beat then i get snxiety then i cant sleep then i am crabby bad mom the rest of the time.... i have no clue no one really has helped me . i did lab work and my wbc count was abnormal a 14 or something but my ultra sound was good my sesta mibi was normal my ekg was normal i was told i have begnin bi jiminey and tri jiminey heart beats the md put me on topral 50 jus decreased my dose to low 25 as a precaution i am suppose to drink caffine free or be caffine free but i still will have a candy bar every now and agian ill even sneek in a small dr pepper ohhh so good. i am here and livin but eeeeew i worry when i look up my sx they all say something about cancer wich scares me i guess i will jus keep talking to god and hope my doctor comes up with something... how are you so far??

Hi! i seem to have a similar issue with my rib pain. I had two rib fractures(cough-induced), which were not clearly seen in radiology images, bu clinically diagnosed by my doc. The last one cused surgical emphysema with air filling up my chest, hospitalizing me for a very long time. i was on narcotic pain killers and had surgeries for nerve blockage. Now i have joined back work. but still i feel the sharp pain on lst side, when i sit for more han an hour. i take morfine tabs to relive pain. It really hurts. So i  use a pillow for support and it is somewhat useful. My Pulmonologist (who also looks after my asthma and other lung issues as well as general health)) is very caring and always assures me taht it will go over with time. It takes time to heal. So just hoping for the best.. Cheers!!
