paralyze diaphragm

by loracwise, Jun 29, 2008 10:40AM
I am a 67 year old woman.  On May 13th, 2008 I had neck surgery.  C3,4,5,6, and t1,  10 screws two rods.  That is going well it is healing fine.  However, since the surgery I have had very high heart rate and at times a shortness of breath but that doesn't seem to be an issue.   Before surgery my blood pressure always ran 116 or 120/67 with a pulse of 70 or lower.  I now run 145/70 with the pulse on a average 108.  Some days I will get a normal reading but only once during the day, that isn't everyday, and that is around noon time.  Yesterday 120/68 pulseof 82.  I was so happy.  But it is now back to 145/70 pluse 107.  I was hospitalize a few days ago. They ran every test possible, I think...They did find a paralyzed diaphragm on the right side and I will be seeing a pulmomary Doctor on July 9th. I am very concerned abourt the heart rate. Could this heart rate be from the paralyze diaphragm?  Is there anything I can do to get my heart rate down?  I am very concern about all of this which I know causes anxitey.  Plus I have anxiety as we lost our only daughter in Jan from a heart valve replacement.  a lot of stress...could this cause my heart rate????  I just don't feel as good as I did before the surgery.
