I recently had a PET/CT scan after a diagnosis of recurring breast cancer. The report noted "mild uptake involves a small right lower paratracheal lymph node. This is of unclear significance, but could represent a metastasis". There was no other evidence of spread. My doctor said she was not too concerned about the paratracheal node. I would like another opinion as to what it means.
I am sorry that you have to endure this uncertainty. You are justified in seeking another opinion. Your doctor’s not “being too concerned” may be warranted, especially in the instance of a small, benign-appearing node. On the other hand, her opinion may not alleviate your anxiety. I suggest that you seek another opinion from an oncologist or a radiation therapist with special interest and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
Good luck. I hope this finding proves to be a false alarm.
