persistent pneumonia in a 3 year old

My three year old grandaughter has been diagnosed and hospitalised four times in her brief life. She has been tested for CF and low antibodies with negative results. She lives in an old,but not damp, house. Her sister who is only 10 months has just been diagnosed too. Is it possible it could be something to do with the house?

When they tested her for CF, did they happen to run a full genetic panel? Sweat tests are a good test (which is what your gdaughter probably had done) initially, but sometimes sweat tests can be borderline or even negative yet the person still has CF (some mutations are more mild and produce lower sweat test values). If she hasn't had the full genetic screening by Ambry (they test for the over 1500+ mutations of CF) it would be a good idea. Other than that, have the docs looked into other problems such as immunological deficiencies? Blood tests can be done to rule those disorders out. I pray that you get answers soon, it must be so hard for you and her parents to watch those kids go through this without any real answers as to why. Sunny
