persisting cold, flu symptoms w/balance issues

In late February, I suddenly had a horrible headache and in addition, I felt like my office complex was going to tip over - I was starting to feel dizzy.  I flew down to Houston for work.  During that time - I felt miserable, the headaches and dizzyness intensified.  At Houston, I check into the ER where they diagnosed it as an inner ear infection and prescribed antivert.  The doctor said that it would clear up in a week.  After a week, didn't feel better so I went back to the ER and the doctor diagnosed me as having inner ear infection and that my case was taking longer than normal.  A week after that, I wasn't feeling better so I went to a internist and he diagnosed it as sinusitis and gave me a prescription decongestant and z-pack (antibiotic).  Since - I have seen two more internist, and two ENT's who can't figure out what's wrong with me.  I have been through two additional runs of antibiotics and a collection of decongestants, antihistimines, and steriod sprays.  I have had persistent sore throat, dry cough, headaches, popping ears, and balance issues - I feel like I am rocking back and forth.  Had blood & urine test, CT Scan of my sinuses, MRI of my brain and auditory system...all negative.  The last doctor said that I have a bad viral infection and couldn't say or do much more.  It has been closing in on two months without much improvement...any suggestions, recommendations?

Unfortunately, this is a very difficult problem to make suggestions without a more thorough review of the data and examination.  Headaches and vertigo can be from ear, sinus and neurologic problems.  It appears that all of these are being investigated to some extent.  I would work with one ENT and/or neurologist to keep looking at possible causes of this problem and see if you cannot find the cause.

I am not necessarily a huge proponent of "natural" therapies, but my friend told me about something called an "ear candle". It is supposed to get all the extra wax and dirt and junk out of your ears. You can get them at health food or homeopathic stores. Like I said, I don't know if it works, but if you're desparate.......

Hi, I too suffer from chronic sinus infections etc.  I took Accutane and the terrible sinus (and other problems) started some time AFTER treatment.  Most of the medical community is not aware of Accutane's horrific LATENT side effects.  These mucotaneous and other problems can arise YEARS after "therapy" and are not reversable.  Go to one of the Accutane sites and see for yourself.  If you cannot get a diagnosis, the problem persists, and you've taken Accutane sometime in your past, you can join the millions of us now who suffer long term side effects.  Many go into denial about it because it is so hard to swallow, but it is unfortunately true.
