position of nasal cannula

by kdf330, May 05, 2009 08:59PM
my mother was recently put on O2 at home. I was told that the 2 prongs inserted in the nose should curve down, but my sister was told they should curve up.  My mom complains that it "digs" in her nose and is very uncomfortable when it is curving down.  What is the correct thing to do?

I've been wearing the nasal cannula for 24/7 for 9 years. I make sure the flow of air goes back.  It will go down to my lungs.  Letting the oxygen hit any part of the inside of your nose just dries the heck out of it and creates other never ending problems.
