post nasal drip

My father has had several ct scans, mri's, x-rays, etc.  He has a mass in his esophagus.  First they said esophageal varicies, then it was acid reflux, now it is post nasal drip.  His latest ct showed alot of infection in his jaw around sinus and jaw bone.  He's taking antibiotics and steroids and nexium twice a day.  We still don't know what the mass is.  It all but chokes and smothers in to death.  He also has asbestosis, pleural plaque. and hiatal hernia.  He has to swallow all the time.  He is so pitiful.  I just can't stand seeing him so miserable.  Any idea what this all can be?
