problem swallowing food

by kimmy1958, Jun 06, 2008 11:04PM
Last night I was eating and my throat seized up and I couldn't swallow anything or breathe. My husband preformed the hymlich and that didn't help I was shaking all over trying to catch a breath telling him in hand movements to call 911. Then all of  a sudden I could bearly breath and I was trying to make myself sick so I could try to clear my throat he got me a paper page to breathe into. This helped so I tried to drink some water and that wouldn't go down and I lost my breathing again then I tried to calm myself and I could breathe but not swallow even my siliva. Then eventually I was calm and could brethe normally. So today I went to work eventhou my throat is gravel and my lungs are sore. I was able to eat lunch today small bites. But tonight I started eating and my throat started closing up again and I stoped after just a few small bites.Still my throat feels like it has something stuck in it or it's closing up. What can this be?

I've had my tonsils out. Today I've noticed some sore spots within my mouth but I was able to eat this morning (eggs). My throat still has a lump in it but I can swallow. So hopefully its gone? I'll probably have to see my doctor next week if it happens again.
Thank You

Have you considered food allergies?  They often make your throat swell and can be very dangerous.  Also, they can start at any time in your life.  I am 50 and am just now having fooding allergies to items I have had all my life.
