prognosis for emphysema

a 58 yr old man with mild emphysema, what is his long term general basic prognosis?

At 58, I would think that something else will nail you before that does. If you are only mild and if you stop smoking!

Prognosis varies, but with good care and doing things to slow down the progression, you could live a long life. IF you do smoke, stop...that is one of the most important things you could do for your lungs. Keep as active as you can, eat healthy and have regular follow ups with your doctor to monitor your COPD. Sunny
