pulmonary nodule

by rose5266, Apr 04, 2009 12:16AM
I had a ct scan done and they found a pulmonary nodule,  they told me to get a new ct scan in 6 mo.  I read about nodules and some information said that it could be something that spread from somewhere else.  I have had a knot under my knee for a while now and i was wondering if this could be connected somehow.

Hi rose5266,

Pulmonary nodules are benign 60% of the time, and require no treatment, like you said they'll scan you again in 6 months(although 3 is usually enough)and if they grew any then they'll want to biopsy, because usually only malignant nodules grow in a short time. The spreading thing you read probably was if the nodules are malignant they can come from a tumor somewhere else in the body that has metastasized.

I wouldn't worry yourself to much about this, the odds are in your favor, especially if you've never smoked,Take Care
