Pulmonary nodules are benign 60% of the time,and require no treatment,like you said they'll scan you again in 6 months(although 3 is usually enough)and if they grew any then they'll want to biopsy,because usually only malignant nodules grow in a short time. The spreading thing you read probably was if the nodules are malignant they can come from a tumor somewhere else in the body that has metastasized.
