reactive airway disease

i have 2 children,1 and 3 year old, the 1 year old is
in the hospital now with what the dr. says is reactive
airway disease.Im very concerned about both of my kids
and was wanting to know is it contagious? Can my other
child catch it from my 1 year old? thanks for your help.

Reactive airway disease (RAD) simply means that a child is coughing and usually wheezing following some type of exposure. The most likely exposure to cause this in young children is a viral infection. The most common viral cause of wheezing in young children is the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). This is contagious, but is most common in children less than 2 years of age.
