Vital capacity can be affected in the following respiratory disorders:
1. Interstitial lung diseases, such as pulmonary fibrosis
2. Surgical removal of a lung or a portion of it
3. Severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
4. Fluid in the chest cavity

Vital capacity (FVC) is mostly affected by obstructive diseases. Obstructive diseases like emphysema, asthma and chronic bronchitis. I am curious as to why you are inquiring? Please be in touch at "***@****"

I may also point out the relationship in decreased vital capacity and restrictive diseases. The vital capacity in patients with restictive diseases will always be decreased. Unlike in obstructive diseases where it isn't ALWAYS decreased. As mentioned in my last comment, I am curious to know why you are inquiring. I hope to hear from you.
