I had the Power of Attorney for my fathers health. He was diagnosted with emphysema in 2004. I brought him into to see his regularRegular insulin Physician for fatigue, weightloss, memoryMemory loss Mental status tests loss. At no time did she tell me about the emphysema. She did another chest Xray and stated he had plaques on his lung from asbestos exposurer. At the time I knew nothing about how harmfull asbestis was. She should she have done some type of lung capicity test or did more to treat his emphysema? She did nothing. He since has passed away from Mesothelomia which we feel might have been caught earlier had she turned him over to a pulmonologist for his emphysema. What do you think?
I agree, not that I'm right, but these doctor's are doing this kind of stuff lately. I don't know....I heard if you have emphysema all you can do is quit smokingQuitting smoking Smoking - tips on how to quit Smoking and copd (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder) Smoking and smokeless tobacco Smoking hazards and take better care of yourself. i don't know if your dad smoked or not or if he got it from asbestos exposure but "yes" she should of had him seen a specialist. Why these doctor's aren't doing that is beyond me. I too am having lots of problems and a year and 3 months later it's no better. I suggested that I wanted to go to a pulmonolgist but the doctor said "he can't do anything more for you than i can, now if you want to go for a second opinion then go" I keep thinking i will, but I will wait until after these tests i'm having next week, that I feel should of been done a year ago. I'm going to be pretty mad if i do have something that they could of found back then. So that's just my opinion.
