sinusitis cause of dizziness?

I have been dealing with chronic sinusitis that came on during my mononucleosis for almost 4 months now with symptoms of severe facial pressure and upper jaw pain. I had a CT scan performed, and am currently seeing an ENT who will be performing surgery in a month to fix my deviated septum. About 4 days ago, I came down with what I believe to be a cold (productive cough, fatigue, and nasal drainage). I have been having yellow to dark green discharge from my nose, which probably means i have another sinus infection. My main problem is the dizziness that I have been experincing for the past 3 days. I feel extremely lightheaded, especially when i am sitting or walking; lying down helps a little. My question is, could an exacerbation of my sinusitis cause this dizziness? If so, will this relieve itself, or should I push my surgery up sooner? It is  very uncomfortable, hard to concentrate, and I feel like I will faint everytime I stand up. Is it the sinus problems or could a virus like a cold also do this?

The dizziness could be coming from your sinuses or possibly from a cold.  Please check with your ENT about your dizziness and the color of the discharge from your nose.  Your ENT knows your sinus situation and will be the best person to advise you about the cause and treatment.

You need to see a doctor quickly about your discolored mucous.  You also need to advise the surgeon about your condition, as it is likely your surgery may need to be postponed.  Doctors generally do NOT operate on patients unless they are free of infection and in the best possible condition.  Your doctor can evaluate you and help you determine why you are dizzy--it may be an infection or other causes, but it needs attention.
