I'm really not certain. I would have thought that maybe you would already have had a bit of a smokers cough? I do know that cigarette smoke temporarily immobilizes the cilia in your lungs, which generally do the job of sweeping out the junk from your lungs. I can see the shortness of breath being due to the extra mucous being stuck in your lungs. However if this doesn't clear up say by 8 weeks, then perhaps it would be an idea to see your doctor, as there maybe an underlying lung condition. Especially if it really starts to interfere with your every day life. But I do agree coughing is what brings up the excess mucous. Hope it goes well for you.
ok still no cough my doctor say u dont always get a cough but gave me mucodyne for tar on the lungs. Still breathless and lungs hurt and feel bruised was told it cos my lungs are starved for nicotine and we suffer differently for smoke withdrawal i find myself holding my breath to i dont think this helping as the muscle r tightning up around lung area
