For the first few people here, I have recently just experienced a lot of these terrible symptoms. However, if the problem is in your throat, the best thing you can do is gargle warm salt water at least 5 times a day. And when I say gargle, I mean tip your head back as far as you can and gargle with as wide open of a mouth as you can. Also, if there is an abcess (abscess) behind your tonsil, it will most likely have to be aspirated and drained by a doctor, severed and drained by a doctor, or if you are lucky it will naturally drain and heal. Symptoms include sore throat, surrounding pain in the gums, and even tongue. If your teeth hurt, it is most likely because you have been clinching your jaw muscles when you swallow something. Most of the time your ear(s) will hurt and feel as if they are infected. With my abcess (abscess), I went through a number of antibiotics including: levaquin, amoxocillan, augmentan, augmentan xr, recophin injection, and a penecillan injection. I also had my abcess (abscess) aspirated which was not extremely painful, but unpleasant. Even after that the infection came back. The antibiotic that has seemed most effective has been the augmenten xr and penacillan. Augmenten xr is basically aumenten in a superman outfit, and the dosage is bigger than when prescribed regular augmenten. The penacillan is my least favorite to recieve because, to you, it means getting a giant needle in the butt and then looking funny when you walk to your car. If you keep getting worse than you might want to consult your doctor about having a tonsilectomy. You won't want to have this proceedure until you are well from the abcess (abscess), but it will for the most part insure that you won't have the problem again. If you DO get a tonsilectomy, understand that it might take a week-2weeks to completely recover. Again, this may not be necessary but it would end your problems. For now, gargling warm salt water at least 5 times a day is GREAT for you. Another thing that can help is sleeping in a humid place, whether you turn on a humidifier or just live in a humid area; HUMIDITY HELPS. Avoid cold foods and drinks, simply because cold food/drink makes your throat close up and skin tighten. Kind of like when a guy jumps into a freezing swimming pool and turns into a woman (if you know what i mean). However, warm food and drink will do the opposite, allowing your throat to expand and hopefully help the abcess (abscess) open up and drain naturally. Chicken noodle soup is great, and so is hot tea. When/if your abcess (abscess) does open and drain naturally, you will spit up puss. It is gross, but you will immediately feel relieved of some pressure in your throat. For your information, the puss will most likely be an orange brownish color (so you know what to look for) and it will taste a little salty. but you stop spitting it up in about 5-10 minutes. And spitting is a good thing! its not attractive, but its good for you! when you're up to it, go ahead and get sour candy or just hard candy. This will allow you to salivate more and more junk will leave your system via spit, nothing gross-looking like puss though. I hope this information can help someone. I wish I had it when I needed it the most!
