sore throat

ok, i have never really had a problem with allergies before, and this may not even be related to my problem, but i have no idea what is going on. i digress, for the past week i have had a sore throat, it has just been at the slightly painful, but more annoying stage. but now it is severe pain, and it hurts like crazy to swallow. a little bit to breathe, and i just have no idea what is wrong. i have asthma, and it has been worse lately, as it has been getting hotter out. but i have never had my coughing and what not cause a sore throat like this, actually, i have never had it cause a sore throat that lasted. so i am just confused as to what is going on and what i should do. help if you can please
