symptoms

I have been plagued with symptoms for 18 mo. which began as a lower back ache and extreme fatigue. Since then I have had rib bain, chest  & pelvic pain. I have frequent sore throat, headaches, pain in my hands and feet. I have sexual dysfunction primarily due to the pain. When it gets bad in the evening I have body wide pain like the flu where everything seems to ache. I have never run any temperature. I have been to neurologists, rhemotoidologist and oncologists. I have had high protein 54mg/dL on Lumbar puncture and negative EMG. I am 47 and have smoked ~ 11 pack/years. I have had one CT scan of my lungs which showed calcified granuloma in upper left lobe (16mo ago). I have been  refered to pain managment doctors without any diagnoisis. I have done done research and I believe that these may be early neourological or "paraneoplastic" symptoms that come with SCLC. I cannot get an appointment at Mayo (even with referal). I take Neurontin in moderate (1500mg) to help with neuropathy. I would not be able to sit without it. I also take amityptolene 50mg at night to help me sleep. I am a engineer and have not missed a day of work, but I am exhausted evenings and weekends. This causing  some bad marrital problems. (besides the point) I really need a diagnosis. Please be honest, no one is able to look me in the eye and say that I don't have SCLC

Sixteen months since the CT scan is a long time.  I agree that looking for an underlying tumor is reasonable.  I would consider a combination chest and abdominal scan.

I just recieved a report from an X-ray (two way) done on my chest last week. The results conclude "mild pulmonary hpyerinflation" with other wise normal chest. This is the first of any chest X-ray Ct-scan in over a year.

It sounds like they didn't tell you anything!  And just why do they think you are having this problem?  I understand the marital part - the thought of being that close to someone else sends me into a panic!  I have a hard enough time breathing as it is.  I'm sorry - hope things inprove.
