teens with emphysema

my bf was just recently diagnosed with diabetes and emphysema...he is 17 years old and my concern is how much will this affect his everyday life?how will things be for him 10-20 years from now?i am terribly worried...and i just want to know how i can help.

He is awfully young to be diagnoses with emphysema....you are a wonderful friend to be so concerned for his well being. I would be there for him, support him....this all must be overwhelming to both of you.
