I am 33 and have been to the ENT about 10 times over the last year. I am so sure that I have throat cancer that I am literally going crazy. I have picked a few of these tonsil stones out of my right tonsil lately. I also have the lump feeling in the right side of my throat. I am a smoker, but by no means a heavy one. I know that doesn't really matter, but my ENT said there just wasn't any way it was throat cancer.
I had a CT scan of my head and neck, both were normal. I had 2 small cysts on my thyroid(3mm) no concern at all from the docs, a normal neck x-ray, normal bloodwork, a scope through the nose to the throat 3 x's (the last one was about 6 months ago and I did have pain then). Under my tonsil I think i see a greyish spot, but my ent said he didn't see it. He thought it was just lymph? tissue. I asked to biopsy, but like I said before, he said there was nothing to biopsy.
My problem is this. I pick out these little yellow pieces that feel like they should be the size of bowling balls and they are barely bigger than the head of a pin. Why is my right tonsil in pain?
Does this seem right to anyone? The ENT did say that my tonsil looked cryptic. He doesn't want them out though. He said too much risk for someone with no infection.
If it were throat cancer would I know by now? It's been a year now.
It sounds as if you have had a thorough evaluation. Since this is still worrying you I would recommend getting a second opinion from an ENT at a medical center associated with a teaching facility. I do think if it were cancer you would know by now.
