throat discomfort

throat discomfort

Five months ago I had a tracheal resection to correct subglottic stenosis. Since then, off and on, with increasing frequency and discomfort, I have had a pressure at the base of my throat. It feels like something pressing on my throat and my voice sounds strained. I am still able to breathe well.  I am wondering if there could be scar tissue constricting or putting pressure on my esophagus?
I have been noticing that I feel like burping when the discomfort is greatest.  However, burping does not relieve the symptom.
Do you have any thoughts or suggestions? I will be asking my doctor about this next time I see him.

This sounds like there may have been scar formation, with or without constriction of the trachea and/or compression of the esophagus. Your doctor may want to consider the following tests: direct visualization of the trachea and esophagus, along with a barium swallow.
