hi i am a very healthy 44 year old womanWomen's way.but i developed this condition where my chest fills with mucus and i can't take a breathe.i don't have asthma or any other health problems.i went to the emeregency room and the doctor told me to cough up the mucus.thats hard to do when you can't breathe.i mean i literally cannot get air in my lungs until i gasp up to 20 seconds which feels like forever.i went to another doctor and he said the chords in my throatCancer - throat or larynx Throat swab culture swell but he didn't explain the mucus.i want to know what this condition is and what causes it .the doctors act like its nothing and i am terrified i won't breathe the next attack i have.sometimes i throw up during these attacks and am afraid of choking on the vomit or mucus can you help me .i am terrified
Finally you can go to a pulmnologist if your problem is only in your lungs. This is possible too. Some people have conditions of fluid in their lungs. Another reason not to pick up smoking.
I think you will find answers. I take antihistamine to help my mucus but mine is from allergies. Don't know about you. You will need to go to a few docs to lean about it.
Your chords can be tightening from the mucus as well. Doesn't sound to hard to treat and pretty common.
First you need to find out if you have developed any allergies. They can come out later in life. A cheap way of doing this is a blood test for something called igE. If present you have allergies. Asthma can do this too. But if you are sure it is not asthma then look at allergies.
Do you have sinus mucus? If so try an ENT doc.
