The Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine is RARELY ever used in the US because it renders the PPD positive for a variable time, thus we lose one of our best tools to check for infection or disease from TB.
The vaccine varies greatly in its formulation and effectiveness depending on the country.
