weezing adn esophageal spasms

hi i have a 14wks baby who has weezied periodically sinc he was released from the NICU at 10days old.  he had ever RDS which resulted in acidocsis and res failure requiring venting and surfactant for 2d,2d cpap, 1d nc he was 38 by dates but maturity was not past 33-34wks.  yesturday when he was having his eval at I from his RN she heard weezing in his lungs he does have allergies we thing since his nose is a little runny and he has a persistant dry cough.  my councern is asma and is it possible for a infant ot develope somethin like BPD after they are off vent and cpap also could the weezing be due to esophageal spasms which cause him to asperate when they accure sinc eheh can not swallow?  what has been your general exsperience on this subjuct the think that has me worried most is not being able to hear the weezing with ears and knowing htat it is there and something happening as a result.

This sounds like a very confusing and frightening situation for you. There are many different possible reasons for your baby's wheezing. This could possibly be from Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) or asthma or reflux associated with the esophageal problem. Allergy is not a likely cause at this age. I would suggest speaking with your doctor regularly to learn what to look for to determine if your child is having a problem or not. The fact that the nurse heard wheezing does not necessarily mean that there is a problem that you should worry about. The important things now are that your baby is able to feed, rest, gain weight and grow. Work closely with your doctor to understand what is going on and when to contact the doctor or nurse.
