worried

hi, I had a CAT SCAN of my chest while on ER, and they found somethin on my lungs, its called crystal lungs or something like that, I'm really afraid that can be some cancer. Can anyone tell me what is this about?
I have asthma, and have the bad habit of smoke.
thanks.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It could be calcifications, crystals are found in rare cases of a fungal infection of the lungs. CT scans find abnormalities in about 20 to 60 percent of smokers and former smokers, but most of these abnormalities are scars from inflammation or other noncancerous conditions. So, don't worry and if can get back with the findings can elaborate further.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
