Rhinoplasty - Swelling

by MarcusA, May 07, 2009 11:21AM
Hi There,

I had my surgery done not to long ago, on April 28/2009. Just recently the doctor took the cast off and left it without anything. Apparently, they advised me when I left the operation that they had a little more work which need to be done on my left side vs. right; therefore, I was left with a black eye on my left eye but not the right. Just recently I was looking at myself and had others opinion suggest my nose is a little bit crooked towards the right. From what I see, I believe that my left side is still a bit more swelled up vs. my right therefore it seems crooked. Its been about a week and few days after my surgery, and I am have numbness on the tip of my nose and I have the feeling like I was wearing sunglasses for the past month and I just took them off, which leaves me with the mix feeling on my bridge something is missing or I have been badly punched. I have returned to work, which is an office job which I sit most of the day. My question is, is this swelling normal and does this mean my nose is going to be crooked or is it just temporarily until the swelling gets reduced and the numbness feeling, is it a sign of swelling? In addition, being at work etc does that cause any problems with my nose and what can I do to help the recovery process? Thank you

Dear MarcusA,

I do not normally give medical advice on post surgical patients. It would be best to talk to your physician. Thank you for your inquiry.
