My STD Results at 13 weeks

I finally got all my blood test results at 13 weeks after having receiving an unprotected oral sex from a girl.

Here they are:

HBsAg -- Negative
Anti HCV -- Negative
Anti HIV 1/2 (Screen) -- Negative
VDRL (RPR) -- Non-Reactive
Herpes Simplex I IgG -- Positive (3.62)
Herpes simplex II IgG -- Negative (0.31)
Chlamydia IgG -- Negative (<22)

I'm at loss finding out that I am positive for Herpes Simplex Type I.

Do I need to worry about any other STDs after this 13 weeks mark?
Do I have to re-test again at 26 weeks (6 months) for complete re-assurance?

For HSV Type I symptoms, all I saw was some kind of a rash in my genitals at the 13th week, I found out that you can contract HSV Type I from unprotected oral which is exactly what my exposure was but it will be HSV Type I only it's on your genital and not oral. I had no symptons up until now at the 13th week. Seeing from my blood results that I have HSV Type I, what should I do now?

When my doctor saw my blood results, she told me not to even worry about HSV Type I, that I may had HSV Type I for a long long time and not even knew about it, she told me the outbreak will usually clear out in a few days without treatment but outbreaks for HSV Type I doesn't come very often and sometimes it doesn't ever come out at all after your first. But I am worried... I don't know what to do. What are the implications of having HSV Type I in your system?

Hi again doctor,

I want to let you know that I got my results for gonorrhoea and the blood report came back negative.

I have another question however and I will start a new post shortly for that, but reference this post as well with a link.

Thanks

Hello again,

re your question:-

In a hypothetical scenario, say if I did indeed contract HSV-1 from the exposure I had in receiving oral, will it be safe and conclusive to say from my 13 week results that I did not contract any other STDs apart from HSV-1?

Yessir, you are completely right.

I'm in a similar situation with you. Between nov and early feb this year, I had intercourse with a total of 6 sex workers. All intercourse was protected, but all oral was not. Early this month, I suddenly developed an itch in my urethra, which after a few days included a slight burning sensation when i urinated. From early Feb to when this started, early april is about 10 weeks, I'm wondering what i might have caught as well...

Hello

re

"will it be safe and conclusive to say from my 13 week results that I did not contract any other STDs apart from HSV-1?"

Yes indeed although I  hold to my original comment that it is by far the most likely scenario that you have had your HSV 1 for a very long time.

best wishes

Thanks for the reply doctor. Your words are always re-assuring.

I haven't been tested for gonorrhoea so I went to the lab today to get tested, I was told results is in two weeks. So I will let you know when that is out.

Hello,

You don't mention a test for gonorrhoea - were you tested for that?

Aside from checking the gonorrhoea you do not need to test again for other STD's.

The HSV 1 in the blood is completely irerlevant and your doctor is right. The majority of the population will have HSV 1 which is generally contracted in childhood. It can be sexually transmitted but is almost always innocently acquired. The HSV 1 virus is one that causes cold sores and other sorts of herpes. It is not a threat to you.

I am HSV 1 positive but HSV 2 negative = I'm the same as you. I'm not worried. You shouldn't be either.

best regards, Sean
