window period

Hi Doctor,

What is the window period for htlv ( Human T cell lymphotropic virus )?

Is the screening test for htlv antibodies done by the red cross conclusive after 145 days of the last exposure?

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
The window period for the HTLV 1 and 2 antibody test is 12 weeks or 84 days.  Therefore a negative test result carried out at 145 days from a possible exposure is conclusive.
Best wishes,
Dr José

Thank you doctor for reply.

I did also htlv I/II antibodies test after 7 months of the last exposure.

My last question is:

Can I rule out htlv now ?

Yes, you can.  That test is conclusive after 12 weeks.
Kind regards,
Dr José
