? About std's

Ok I've only been with 3 partners, my last to whom I am married to for 15.5 years.
She had her last visit with her OB 4 years ago. Everything went well.
She just told me last night she has been having burning pain for the past 3 months along with spotting. And has pain during enter corse.
Today I had to talk her in to going to the ER. They ran bacteria test & check for yeast infection. Neither were present.
The said it's more than likely a STD.  Now I know it didn't come from me. Or is there std that never show side effects. Or could this have been dormant in her system.  Thanks in advance.
